The Terrible Twos is the alter ego of The New Amsterdams, a band led by Matthew Pryor, who also fronted the acclaimed rock outfit The Get Up Kids for nearly a decade. If You Ever See An Owl is teeming with irresistible pop designed to soothe the savage teething toddler and harried parent alike.

The album’s 15 hook-filled, mostly acoustic tracks were recorded in Lawrence, Kansas in Pryor’s garage with guitarist Dustin Kinsey, bassist Eric McCann and drummer Bill Belzer – who writes and sings two songs on the album. The father of two, with one on the way, Pryor says he wanted to make an album that he and his kids could both enjoy. “I don’t think music has to be tailored to children necessarily,” he says. “They respond to a strong melody like anyone else. As far as I’m concerned, the best children’s music isn’t the cheesy crap that drives parents insane but the intelligently written stuff that is basically pop music.”
