The beauty of Sarah Lee Guthrie's inspired children's album GO WAGGALOO is that it feels like a sonic scrapbook. Joined by her husband Johnny Irion, her kids, her nieces and nephews and her father Arlo Guthrie, the music reflects the spirit of family in which the music was made. In fact, Sarah Lee's daughter even contributed to the creation of the lyrics. The music itself has an intimate quality, as if the family was sitting around in the living room playing together - it's a natural quality that sets the album apart from other children's albums. The arrangements have a classic folk sound with a tinge of bluegrass in places. Each of the songs is very rhythmic with most of the emphasis being put on the singing and lyrics. Three of the songs feature lyrics of Woody Guthrie songs that had not previously been put to music. Peter Seeger and Tao Rodriguez Seeger are guests on the album.
